RAUL ZIMMERMAN, M.D.

Raul obtained his medical education at Stanford University School of Medicine. He completed his residency training at Santa Monica Hospital Family Medicine Residency Program. This was followed by a UCLA Fellowship in Nutrition and Preventive Medicine. Raul was in private practice for six years before joining HMC FPRP. He was an Associate Director form 1992-1999 and assumed the role of Program Director in 1999. Raul has been very active in End of Life Care and Medical Ethics, working with our local Hospice program on a part time basis; filling a pressing need for medical leadership. In October of 2004 he became the first full time Director of Hospice of Volusia/Flagler transferring the Program Directorship of our Residency to Dr. Prevatte. Raul's professional interests include: nutrition, medical ethics, medical informatics, Sports Medicine, herbal/alternative medicine and procedural medicine. He is looking forward to expanding our program's training in End of Life Care in his new role at Hospice of Volusia/Flagler. Raul has a CAQ in Sports Medicine. His outside interests include: running, bicycling and parenting.
