Notes from Rick Jotani, MD. 06 Now in private group practice - Pell City, Alabama
10/2/06
Practice is going well, slowly getting busy. I am doing TONS of casting and splinting. None of my coworkers in the office want to do it now that I am here. The folks at RaglandHigh School are really
glad that I am helping them. I am also working with PellCityHigh School which is a 6A school and will be going to some of their games as well.

Now all of the guys in our practice are sending me their broken bones. I put a couple of glove casts on last week, football players who played with the casts on. The word is getting out here in PellCity
that parents now don't necessarily have to take their kids to Birmingham for non-operative ortho care. It's kind of cool.
The training I got at Halifax is perfect for my situation. I'm in a town of about 15,000 and we see tons of primary care Sports Medicine; lots of acute and chronic musculoskeletal problems. What
I did at Halifax is right on with what I'm doing here, from casting and splinting to joint injections. I'm also being asked to speak at various places in the community about things like heat illness
and concussions. Many of our patients now appreciate the fact that they don't have to drive to Birmingham (about 30 minutes away) to get musculoskeletal care that we now provide here in the office.
Feel free to pass along my email address to anyone you folks are recruiting and I'll be glad to talk with them. My office phone number here is 205-814-9284.
