The Douglas Maxwell Award for Excellence in Fine Arts recipient, Lynn Chacko, M.D., is currently chief resident, recruitment chair, and resident representative to the Florida Academy of
Family Physicians. During college she was a recruitment assistant for Doctors Without Borders. She has used her leadership roles to try to justly advocate for her fellow residents, as well as
promote a healthy faculty-resident relationship. Her community activities include organizing Tar Wars events and working with her church's justice ministry. The former resident association chair's
clinical interests lie in preventive medicine, health advocacy and policy, and public health. Promoting international human rights through her work with Amnesty International is her most important
accomplishment. Her experiences with Doctors Without Borders, human rights work, and political work have taught her that the best way to make any change in the world is to get involved. As a result, she
has strived to stay involved thought various leadership positions and volunteer activities. She also enjoys traveling, art, and boating. Her future ambitions are practicing family medicine in an
underserved community, participating in extended international mission work, and continuing health care advocacy. Dr. Chacko is married and expecting her first child in December.
